Rajat Patidar Hails RCB’s Dominant IPL 2026 Triumph, Eyes Historic Three-Peat
RCB captain Rajat Patidar expressed immense pride after guiding his side to a second consecutive IPL title, calling the feat the ideal birthday present. Patidar, who was speaking post RCB winning the championship in one of three titles, lauded the team on their phenomenal campaign and said that credit goes to the coaching staff for establishing a culture of winning within RCB franchise.
The title win was especially close to Patidar as it fell on his 33rd birthday. He said that back-to-back titles was a big achievement but the RCB captain would soon turn his attention towards securing a third straight title in as many years.
Looking back at the triumph in comparison to last seasons campaign, Patidar said that this years victory felt relatively calmer and convincing. RCB did not just play but played great in the tournament and therefore he was assured that defending champions can win
Patidar further said that he tried to separate his responsibilities when he was captain and batter. Got down to work in the off-season, practiced for hours with his mentor Dinesh Karthik to figure out a more solid batting technique and this has resulted in him having his Indian Premier League season ever. The right-handed batsman tallied 501 runs at a sensational strike rate of 192.69, as he was instrumental in RCBs title-winning journey.
The captain reserved high fives for the franchises coaching staff, especially head coach Andy Flower and bowling coach Omkar Salvi. Patidar credited the equal treatment of each player and assurance from the coaching staff to devote time toward senior as well as young cricketers for creating a different atmosphere in the team since joining this franchise in 2021.
Rajput lauded Salvi’s one-on-one work with bowlers that has helped many youngsters, including 19-year-old fast bowler Rasikh Salam – the founder of the season Patidar further hailed Flower as one of the best coaches he has worked under, emphasising his trait of backing each player in the squad no matter what role they have to play in the playing XI.
Patidar, however, took a moment to reflect on the 11 fans who lost their lives in a stampede outside of Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium during last year’s title celebrations while high-fiving the victor in life. Describing supporters as family members, he tearfully dedicated RCB’s newest IPL trophy to them on their death and added there are no words to describe the loss of RCB and its fans.
